What can you do to join the movement?
Ways on how you can realistically incorporate healthy dietary decisions into your every day routine
And it's surprisingly simple.
.1. Start making conscious decisions about what you are choosing to eat
- Instead of just mindlessly grabbing a slice of pizza for dinner because it's easy, start actually thinking about what you are putting into your body. Once you start thinking about it and making well-balanced decisions, it starts to become second nature and you no longer have to even think about it
2. Try to eat at least one fruit and/or vegetable at each meal
- 95% of college students do not get the recommended amount of fruits/vegetables! - help make the change to a better college lifestyle starting with the most nutritious foods: fruits/veggies
3. Always have healthy snacks with you
- When midnight strikes and you are still in the library studying, be prepared with nuts, fruit, yogurt, etc.
4. Eat balanced
- Healthy does not always mean salad every day; in fact, that is not necessarily beneficial to your body's strength. Try mixing up your healthy eating options while maintaining a plate full of vegetables, fruits, proteins, whole grains, and dairy
5. Encourage your friends to start making healthy choices too!
- Advocating for healthy eating during college does not stop here. The only way for college students to start living a healthier lifestyle full of nutritious, beneficial food is with the help of you! Join HEALTHY LUNCH WEEK and encourage your friends to do the same - with everyone on board there will no longer be the temptation and pressure from friends to go get McDonald's or pizza
